Cloud computing: Who will win the race?

March 24th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in softwares by dreamluverz

Today, I discovered new words or term, whatever you call it.. “cloud computing” on http://www.itbusinessedge.com/blogs/rob/?p=205. It talks about who will win the race of cloud computing. Puzzled enough with the new term I looked for what it means. Some are listed below:

From: http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9006439

Cloud computing--the idea of relying on Web-based applications and storing data in the “cloud” of the Internet–has long been touted as a way to do business on the road. Now software companies are making entire Web-based operating systems. Built to work like a whole computer in the cloud and aimed at a wider audience, these browser-based services could help those who can’t afford their own computer.

From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_computing

Cloud computing is a new (circa late 2007) label for the subset of grid computing that includes utility computing and other approaches to the use of shared computing resources. Cloud computing is an alternative to having local servers or personal devices handling users’ applications.

In general, the label suggests that function comes from “the cloud” — often understood to mean a public network, usually assumed to be the Internet — rather than from a specific identifiable device. The label of “cloud computing” is not, however, identical with the business model of software as a service or the usage model of utility computing. Grid computing is a technology approach to manage a cloud. In effect, all clouds are managed by a grid but not all grids manage cloud. Specifically a computer grid and a cloud are synonymous while a data grid and a cloud can be different.

So who do you think will win the race?

Let’s help

March 22nd, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in anything under the moonlight by someonewhocares

Dear reader,

Someone I know got into big financial problem. I prayed and extended my help but he refused. He even wanted to end his life because of this. He started to lose faith with God and people around him. I kept on telling him that it’s just trials in our life that we need to learn and overcome. But he doesn’t want to listen anymore.

It hurts so much knowing that he lost his faith with God. Day and night I’ve been praying and thinking how to help him. I cannot think any ways on how to do this anymore but to let you know, reading this post that he really needs help.

I wanted to show him that there’s nothing impossible in this world that God cannot do. I wanted to let him know that God is still there for him, no matter how hard life may seems to be.

If you could solicit your prayers for him and wanted to give some donations to help him in his financial problems, I would greatly appreciate it. If you wanted to leave some message to encourage, to lift up his soul and to tell him it’s not yet the end of the world please do so, for him to know that you care.

Let’s pray and help him.

Thank you very much,

Someone Who Cares

…at this point of my life…

At this point of life where I am in

I don’t know if I will move forward or just stop on living. It may not be hard simply looking at it but being in it is as hard as you can’t breathe and just wish you did your best.

You try to weigh things. You try to think which one is a better way of doing it. Yes! We always have choices in doing our decisions. But we wanted to make sure that doing it will not make things worst but will straighten up everything. We always have presumptions. What ifs…. Are always there. What if I do this? What would be the outcome. What could possibly happen? But we don’t know. We really don’t know what could happen ahead of us. We could only make the best and hope for the best.

We sometimes asked, why it turned out this way? You know you’ve done your part and the very best you can but still things went astray. It’s harder when you don’t know the answer even how hard you beg for it. You started to question yourself…”What have you done?”. Confused, puzzled and lost.

Pain is all you feel. Your heart is bleeding bitterly. Blood continuously flowing. Tears endlessly dropping. Seems like death is all over you and there will be no tomorrows. You started to reminisce the good memories that had happened. The laughs, the smiles and happy faces you used to wear. When will this sorrow end? Will there be a happy ending? Is all you can asked.

At this point of life where I am in, I don’t know the next step to make…

How do you want to die?

March 20th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in anything under the moonlight by dreamluverz

After watching About Schmidt (2002) I asked myself how do I want to die… In that movie. schmidt’s(jack nicholson) wife suddenly died. After hating his wife for her behavior, character & attitude he realized then how important and how he loves his wife. He said something like you need to appreciate what you have while you still have it. But it’s too late coz she’s already dead. At the last part of the movie, he said that since he’s already old he could die in 20 years or tomorrow. Then I wonder… how do I want to die… If ever I’ll die I wanted it to be peaceful or painless. At first I wanted it to be sudden like it’s so unexpected but I guess that could be kinda painful like what happened to his wife that was lying on their kitchen floor. Accidents are also unexpected. So I don’t want to die a sudden death or those sort of things. But if it won’t be sudden ie. you’re sick, I don’t want that too ‘coz you’ll be waiting for your end and be under a lot of pain. So I guess I wanted to die sleeping :) Like what happened to heath ledger :P If you’ll just sleep and you’ll never wake up the next day… that is also unexpected and painless

So I would prefer sleeping its unexpected, peaceful & painless. How about you? How do you want it to be? :P

MYSQL: FIND_IN_SET AND IN()

March 19th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in mysql by dreamluverz

Using IN() for comma delimited and my query is something like SELECT * FROM TABLE WHERE FLD IN(’33, 148′)
TABLE

(ID) (FLD) COMMA DELIMITED FIELD
1 42, 148
2 234, 25423,148

It wont be able to retrieve any records at all coz it will only check for the exact values inside that quote ‘33, 148′. Even I put something like SELECT * FROM TABLE WHERE FLD IN(’148′) still won’t have any result coz I don’t have a record that’s only ‘148′

So instead I used something like SELECT * FROM TABLE WHERE FIND_IN_SET( ‘148′, FLD) and these 2 rows will be retrieved. So I guess IN() is not a good way to retrieve fields with comma delimited values unless it’s the exact string. But if ur sql is like this SELECT * FROM TABLE WHERE ID IN(1,2), it won’t be a prob at all.

Btw. I tried the issue below and it’s not a prob anymore. I only used the sql like SELECT * FROM TABLE WHERE FIND_IN_SET( ‘1487′, FLD) and it only retrieved 1487 .

SOURCE: http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=2047

I use FIND_IN_SET() to return results containing a certain number in a comma-delimmeted

list in a TEXT field. Sometimes it returns false positives,
for example:mysql> SELECT pssmID_list FROM bccs WHERE FIND_IN_SET(1487, pssmID_list);

windows vista sp1

March 19th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in windows by dreamluverz

I just bumped into this site about some issues of WINDOWS VISTA and wanted to share with you.

Windows Vista SP1 doesn’t work with Intel 945G Express Chipset
If you just applied Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 on your PC with an Intel 945G Express chipset, you have a problem.

That’s right Windows Vista Fans, Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 apparently has been reported to have serious compatibility issues with PC’s running the Intel 945G Express chipset. The Intel 945G Express chipset driver versions between numbers 7.14.10.1322 and 7.14.10.1403 won’t work with Vista SP1, according to Microsoft.

To make things worse, the Intel 945G Express chipset includes Intel’s GMA 950 graphics core, which also won’t work with Vista SP1 if you’re using those drivers.

HP, Lenovo, Gateway and other major computer manufacturers PC’s are affected. Some drivers utilized by Symantec products may not be compatible as well.

For a full list of drivers that won’t work with Vista SP1 you can click here.

dopus: automatic loading of folders, ftps, listers

March 18th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in dopus by dreamluverz

I forgot on what section of dopus preference it is located. And now that I’ve found I wanna take note of it. I use dopus as my ftp client and it automatically reloads the last opened folder or lister. After a long search I found it. It’s on Preference->Folders=>Options->Prevent Automatic loading of certain types of folder, and uncheck FTP SITES. :)
