php editors I’ve used

As my work suggest php editor is one of the main tools a web programmer must have. And I’ve tried different kinds of editor just to suit my needs.

ULTRAEDIT

I started with Ultraedit, honestly this editor rocks. It has most features I needed but the problem is I often use ftp. It has ftp client support but I don’t like the way the files are being listed. Before when accessing your ftp files it has a popup window but not a tree like display(w/c I wanted to have) and when saving or the same time uploading your files you need to finish that action to proceed with your work… kinda time consuming huh. I’m the time of person that I don’t store local files on my pc. I want to directly access the files, edit and save it via ftp. I’m comfortable with it so I don’t need to worry whether I had the latest copy of files I’m doing and to sync it from the server from time to time.

But later they came up with this tree like display included on the file explorer but still It has different capabilities unlike zend studio… so I shifted to zend studio

ZEN STUDIO

After years of using ultra edit I finally shifted to zend studio juz this year, one of my officemates andy mentioned that he’s using zend editor. At that time I’m not into the idea of shifting yet. Then one time because of my prob with the ftp features I came looking for other php editor alternative then I remembered zend so I gave it a shot. On their website, aside from the zend editor they also have the zend studio hmmm…seems nice! why not try it. So I Downloaded, installed, and tried it. Firstly I checked it ftp features. Wow! I found what I was looking for. The ftp handling is so great. The listing tree display is so nice. Seems like you’re just browsing on your local pc. And while it’s uploading you can still go on with your work. It was really fantastic plus some added features on it which is cool So from then on I totally shifted to zend studio. But there’s still an issue. Hahaha. Zend studio is kinda slow. Maybe becouse it uses java? I’m not sure. Remember when you’re using dreamweaver it’s like that. When you type there’s some delay on it. Probably you noticed it. That’s one reason I don’t like dreamweaver. But that won’t be a reason to give up zend studio for it features compared to dreamweaver. Yeah dreamweaver is good when you’re into design thing. But that’s not what I’m looking for. Oh yeah I remember dreamweaver has it ftp features, tree like display too like zend but most features for programming isn’t there. That won’t be an option. I can still cope with zend studio

NUSPHERE PHPED

Then one day, I thought of browsing for the best php editor. I bumped into this site I forgot the name and listed the top 10 editors. Lots of editors were listed there. Number 1 is nusphere phped. next is php edit. I forgot 2nd or 3rd. I was wondering what is this php edit, ohh it was ultraedit good to hear that coz it really rocks. And I found zend studio some levels below… hmmm…

I also tried different forums on the discussion of the best editor they like. Lots of name came in and nusphere phped stood out. I also tried different review sites for editor. Most people have the same comment when it regards to zend studio and maybe that’s the reason why it’s on the below level of the list. Then I checked back the list again and tried the 1st one since lots of people have good reviews on this one. nusphere phped. Read the features of it, downloaded, installed and tried it.

WOW! Pretty nice! It’s like a combination of ultraedit and zend studio. Really really good. Right away I checked how the ftp features are being handled. I want the ftp features to be very nice cause I use this a lot in my work I want to be comfortable with it in the first place. The ftp features of nusphere phped is way too nice compared to others! I love it very much! And the application is also fast! It also has some features of dreamweaver for design tools. What more can you ask for. That time the version avaiable is nusphere phped v5. How much more now that they have 5.2

Well that’s it. my trial version expired already because it’s only 14 days so now I’m back to zend studio again. That’s the reason why I’m so dying for this php editor. I’ve been dreaming about this at night Well you can say why not just buy it as for now the price is way too expensive around $400 or P20,000. I still don’t have the budget for that at this moment. Especially it’s almost christmas I need money to go home.I’ve been away for almost 2 years.So I need the money for that and I still have lots on the list. You could say you need it on your work in the 1st place why not prioritize it. Well, I’m on that. It’s actually on my list. But practically not at this time to buy it. I can still use zend for now… well hope sooner… my wish will come true
